Is Nintendo Switch the Best Platform to Play Fortnite?

Ever since the release of the Switch in April of 2017, we've been begging Nintendo to bring every game to the platform. When I say every game, I mean everything... seriously... we want to play all of our favorites on this fantastic hybrid console, wherever and whenever! Much to our surprise, Nintendo has been doing just that! From Dark Souls, to FIFA, and a never-ending supply of indie titles, the Switch offers a plethora of games to please all gamers. Up until E3, the biggest game in the media was missing from the platform... and that was Fortnite.

During Nintendo's E3 direct, our dear friend Reggie announced that the battle royale game sweeping the nation would finally be available on the switch, and what a treat it has been!
If you are not aware of what Fortnite is, then you must live in a pineapple under the sea, because this game even haunts me in my sleep! If you do happen to be an aquatic sponge and don't know what's going on in the world, Fortnite is a third-person shooting game that features a 'Battle Royale' mode that drops players onto a map with 99 other players. You are dropped unarmed, and forced to gather resources and eliminate all other players until you are the last one standing, easy right? The Battle Royale mode of this game has been free-to-play since September of 2017 and sky rocketed in popularity early this year, being available on Playstation, Xbox One, PC, and even on mobile devices! So, why did it take so long to release on the Switch? I'm not 100% sure myself, maybe some coding bugs, or Nintendo being stubborn, as usual. The important thing is that Fortnite is here, and it is FANTASTIC on the Switch! Having it on this platform includes the perks of mobility, much like the iOS version provided, but with better graphics and actual controls. I'm talking joysticks people, this game is incredibly hard to play with out joysticks. Or maybe I just suck... either way, pick it up on your switch, it's free!

When I first hopped on the Fortnite bandwagon, I decided to play on my Playstation 4. Unfortunately for me, and anyone else who linked their account to their PSN account, all the experience you earn and your purchases will NOT be available on your Switch account... or your mobile account... OR your PC account, as Sony is refusing to play nice with the other kids on the playground. This isn't really that important to the general public, but if you want to partake in cool skins and delightful dancing emotes, you'll have to purchase the battle pass AGAIN, and start back at level 1. *sigh*

If you want to jump into Fortnite for the first time, I completely recommend grabbing your Switch and seeing what all the hype is about! I prefer the switch version as I can play with my friends, all in one room and not have to rely on headsets for chatting. It's another one of those games on the switch that really makes me feel like I'm in the commercial where the adults bust out a switch at a party and everyone gathers around in wonder. I enjoy using the pro controller, not just while docked, but in tabletop mode as well!
